I think I have decided I have the luckiest 9 year old girl in the world. Every time Holly gets a great product to review for the pre-teen age group, she gets to try out something fun! This product has by far been her favorite.I Love Beauty: Hollywood Makeover for Nintendo DS.
The game is all about makeovers, and in the game the player is a makeup artist at an elite LA salon, working on all kinds of movie stars and models. There’s a little story that goes along with the game, and each character has a little bit of history with them. The fun is in the making over though – from coloring and styling hair to applying makeup and nail color. I could not get my daughter to stop playing this game, she totally loves it. It has kept her busy through 2 long and boring doctors appointments, and she chooses to play it rather than watch a movie in the car.
I tried the game and found that while some parts are easy (the coloring hair part is hard to mess up), some are MUCH harder. I never passed straightening hair or applying mascara, it appears I need a lot more practice!
Features:
• Thirty six different cosmetics to choose and combine;
• Apply professional makeup based on the different occasions;
• In Contest Mode, test your skill in three challenging styling competitions;
• Compete in 13 make-up & hair styling mini games with over 60 variations;
• Choose the right accessories: earrings, necklaces, etc. for the best look.
This game should be a huge hit for the little girl in your life. It is rated E for everyone, and I’d say that girls from 6-12 are probably the best age group to own the game (it does have some reading involved in the stories and instructions) – but that doesn’t keep the rest of us from having fun with it every once in a while!
