Oy! I hate posting on the weight I’ve GAINED instead of losing. As I told you last week, my husband and I are expecting baby #3. This is definitely a huge surprise to us, but we have learned everything happens for a reason. Now, we just need to find that reason. just teasing. So, each Weigh Me Wednesday will be about how much weight I’ve gained instead of lost. I’m nuts. I will live through each of your stories though about how successful you have been at LOSING weight! I’m so proud of you all and it sounds like you’ve been so successful!
I weighed myself this morning and since my last Dr. appt. on 8/3, I have gained 2.8 lbs. So, I am up a total of 5.8 lbs. ouch! I always gain a ton of weight in the beginning, so I hope that this one is the same as the others.
I have been unbelievably sick (not just morning sickness, which is tapering off), but I somehow got a cold that has put me on my rear-end. In fact, I didn’t even turn the computer on yesterday. So, I am going to give you a recipe for potato soup. It is the BEST potato soup and if you change everything to fat free, you will minimize your calories and it’s a great meal! I also make 2 batches each time and freeze the second batch for later on.
Potato Soup
Ingredients:
6 to 8 large baking potatoes
2 cups milk
4 cups chicken broth
2/3 cup flour
2/3 cup butter
8-12 strips bacon, cooked
1 cup sour cream
8 oz. cheddar cheese, shredded
salt and pepper to taste
Directions:
Bake potatoes until soft, then peel. Mash or cube the potatoes depending on the desired consistency for the soup.
In a large soup pot, combine butter and flour to make a roux. Cook for 1 minute, then slowly whisk in the liquids.
Add salt and pepper, potatoes, cooked bacon, and cheese. At the last minute, stir in the sour cream. Season to taste with salt and pepper before serving.
Soup will be thick. Add milk to reheat.
Length of Time: 11 weeks
Pounds Gained: 5.8
Pounds to Go: 29.2 or less!

Well, I've lost too much according to my OB. I'm 15 weeks prego and have to visit them again today to see if I'm putting any back on. I'm plus size to begin with so I'm not worried about it. I only gained 15lbs with DD and that wasn't until I was 8 months along. I lost with her as well. I know this probably doesn't make you feel any better, but I can sympathize with your "surprise." We were EBF and when my DD was 4 months old we found out we were expecting again. Yeah, didn't see that once coming, but we can't do much about it, but rather just go with it. Here's to a happy pregnancy.
