Here are some other tips for changing a wiggling baby:
- Hang a mobile over the changing table so baby has something to gaze up at.
- Place a mirror next to the changing area so you and baby can make silly faces at each other from a different perspective
- Keep a basket of toys next to the changing area. Designate these toys as changing toys so they seem new and fun or switch them out occasionally so baby doesn’t get bored.
- Keys! When you aren’t at home and desperate for baby to stay still, your car keys ALWAYS work. You can plan your retrieval method while you change your distracted (and unusually still) baby.
- Sing songs to your baby and make eye contact to engage them and keep them from wanting to roll off and play somewhere else. A favorite of my children is “Yankee Doodle” but I always replace “Yankee” with their name like “Jackson-Doodle” and “Parker-Doodle”.
- If it’s easier for you, forget the changing table. The floor is the perfect (and safe) spot for changing wiggly babies!
Ms. Wiggle Bottom is also known as Wiggle Monster because she likes to growl when we try to keep her from wiggling away. What are some of the silly names you call your wiggly baby? How do you manage diaper changes with your wiggly one? I’d love to hear your ideas! And if you’ve tried Little Movers Slip Ons, what did you think? Please leave a comment to share!
