As much as I admire the simplicity of childhood that our parents and grandparents experienced, I have to admit that I love technology. I love that my kids can “read” books on my phone and play educational games that keep them entertained when I need a few minutes of quiet. Yes, we still read real books with pages we can feel and turn but we love the interactive video books too.
Old and new collide when “Jack and the Beanstalk“, a well-known fairy tale, meets Windows Phone App. In case you aren’t familiar with the story, here’s the synopsis:
“Jack and the Beanstalk is a folktale said by English historian Francis Palgrave. Jack is a young lad living with his widowed mother and struggling in hard times. Jack is in love with the count’s daughter and wishes to marry her. In desperation for money Jack is sent by his mother to sell their only cow at the market, but along the way he is apparently swindled by a man who offers him supposedly “magic” beans in exchange for the cow.”
The story features 28 uniquely illustrated and animated scenes with pictures that move and animate as you tilt your device and tap on its screen. The classic fairy tale comes to life and keeps children entertained anytime, anywhere.
