Personally, I love treats and indulge way more often than I should. I really try to limit the amount of treats my children get though. When they do get goodies, I want them to be extra special and fun. Luckily for me, it’s not hard to please my children. I can give them grapes in a Disney Cars or Princesses snack bag (Insignia Snack Bags; $2 at select grocery stores) and they’ll get all excited as if it’s candy. Everything is good in moderation so I don’t mind letting my kids have sugary sweets once in awhile. To keep from going overboard with candy and cookies, I have them help me make homemade treats that are somewhat healthier like Pumpkin Chocolate Chip Muffins or Banana Bread which for the most part, they are just as happy with. Plus, having them help makes them feel proud of their accomplishments. They love sharing the treats we’ve made together.
For some kids, treat time comes when they clean up their toys. For others, it’s when they score an “A” on that difficult spelling test. When are tasty rewards in order at your house? I admit, I’m guilty of the occasional bribe. What about you?
