Since my kids loved Ann Can’t Sleep so much, I downloaded Koto Go Silence, another animated book from Light Sleepers. The story was set up the same way, with words that are read and an animation that follows. You tap the words on each page to start the narration. Once again, I was impressed with an original story line that my kids really enjoyed. Koto Go Silence is about a dog named Koto who tries to maintain peace and quiet on his night watch. He hears lots of unusual sounds and makes assumptions as to what they might be. The ninjas on the rooftop turns out to be a broken weather vain and the robot sounds are actually a bug zapper. Koto quiets each noise as he patrols the house. The narration pages feature little illustrations so there’s always something to look at.
I asked my son what he liked most about the book and he said “I like the noises”. Each of the animations have audio to match the noises that Koto hears so that the reader can experience them as well. Both the audio and visual parts of this ebook are well done. I especially love the expressive noises that Koto makes. I’d definitely recommend this app. It’s available for purchase in the iTunes App store for $2.99. You can check out a short clip of the story in the video below. See for yourself what a cute story it is!
