In the winter, ceiling fans recirculate heat into the living areas and can reduce your energy bill by up to 10 percent. Some energy-efficient models use as little energy as a 100-watt light bulb.
Remember to reverse the fan motor in the winter months. Ceiling fans come with forward and reverse settings. Use the forward setting in the summer to blow cool air down into the room and the reverse setting in the winter to circulate warm air.

I also wanted to share a green idea I found on Pinterest this week — Turn an old light bulb into a vase!
