How are you doing with your holiday shopping? Did you start early? My plan each year is always to start early so I don’t feel the strain on my wallet as much as spending a large chunk of cash all at once. The problem is, if I shop all year long and stash gifts I still feel the need to shop during the holidays so it means I probably actually spend and buy more. My husband always has to reign me in. He’s better at budgeting than I am.
This year, Bluebird, a checking and debit alternative from Walmart and American Express, can help me keep my spending within reasonable limits. Yes, I have a stash of gifts but I still have some shopping to do. The hubs and I can discuss who is still left on our list and come to an agreement on a budget. We’ll add the money to our Bluebird card and when I’m shopping for gifts, I’ll use it to purchase them. When the money’s gone, game over! The nice thing about using the Bluebird card is that it’s easy to check my transactions and balance while I’m out and about by accessing the Bluebird app right from my phone. For me, it’s better than the cash system and a lot easier than trying to keep track using our credit or debit cards.
Bluebird comes in handy for a lot of things! You can learn more about Bluebird and sign up for your free card at www.bluebird.com or pick up an account set up kit at your local Walmart for $5.
