The Amazing Spiderman Film is one of my five year old son’s favorites. He loves super heroes! We got this awesome Spiderman costume from Costume Discounters just in time for vacation. You might think it’s funny that I’m packing costumes for vacation but we are going to visit family and I’m pretty sure Jackson’s cousin is into superheroes too so we packed an extra Batman costume so they can play together.
Jackson wears a size 5 so I bought a size 7/8 so he’d have some extra room and might be able to wear it for Halloween. Sizing must run small though because the costume already fits perfectly. It’s a one piece jumpsuit with a ski mask type hat. The jumpsuit fastens at the back of the neck with Velcro and features boot covers at the bottom of the pants to cover up shoes and make the costume more authentic looking. 3D muscles are built right in and really complete the tough guy superhero look. The eyes of the mask are mesh so you can see through them and there are two nose holes for breathing. After a few minutes of wearing it Jackson asked why his mask was wet. Breathing causes moisture to collect quite quickly and I don’t image it would be comfortable wearing it for very long. It does look cool though! The mask is a snug fit and a little hard to adjust to get the eyes and nose lined up where they should be.
Since my 4 year old daughter usually plays superheroes with her brother I know she is going to feel left out. I should have gotten her a Spidergirl costume so she could play along too. Luckily she’ll have girl cousins and her sister to play with to keep her occupied.
My kids love dressing up and role playing year round. They get so excited when I add a new costume to the dress up trunk. The Spiderman costume was definitely not an exception! The look on my sons face when I pulled it out of the package was priceless! I love that role playing gets them active and interested and excited about something other than video games.
