Go to the Movies—As a mother, there’s a really good chance you haven’t seen a movie you’ve wanted to in a long time. You’ve probably seen more monster and giant robot movies than you ever needed with the kids and plenty of action flicks with your husband, but when’s the last time you caught the movie version of a Nicholas Sparks books or the new Jennifer Aniston movie on the big screen? Treat yourself this Mother’s Day by picking the movie you see and go with or without the family—that’s up to you!
Buy Yourself Something Nice— You probably spend a lot of time thinking about what gifts to get people, right? When your son, daughter or husband has a birthday coming up, it’s on you to figure out who gets what, buy the gift, wrap it, and, more times than not, let someone else take credit for that perfect gift you made happen. This Mother’s Day, use your gift for finding the perfect gift to get yourself something nice!
Take a Class—With all the running around you do picking up the kids from school, dropping off the dry cleaning, doing the food shopping, and everything else you have to do, you probably never have a second to do or learn any of the things you want to. Celebrate your motherhood this year by pushing that responsibility onto someone else for a night. And with the night off, get out there and find a class about something that interests you and get learning. There are so many wonderful classes available—yoga, art therapy, writing workshops. No matter what you’re into or think you might be into there’s a class for you, so indulge.
Make Yourself a Nice Dinner—You spend 364 days a year cooking dinner for your husband and the kids. And what do you have to show for these hours spent slaving over a hot stove? A meager thanks here and there. Since you’re most likely the best cook in the house already, treat yourself to a delicious meal that you choose. Pick the meal that will send your taste buds into a frenzy and leave full and satisfied! And don’t forget to take that Cost Plus World Market coupon and put it toward the cost of the meal. Nothing’s better than being full with a fuller wallet!
Take a Trip—Can you even remember the last time you went away? Was it years ago at this point? This Mother’s Day, send the kids to your sister’s and give yourself a vacation! Plan a weekend getaway with your hubby or maybe something a little longer and a little further away.
With cheap ground transportation options or all of those rewards points on the credit card, there are definitely plenty of options for travel.
Whatever you end up doing, make sure it’s where you want to go and what you want to do—remember this is about celebrating you! Maybe it’s not the most heartfelt gift if you choose it, but at least you know you’re getting what you want!
