Summer arrived early in the Seattle area! This weekend we celebrated my son’s 6th birthday with a last minute OUTDOOR party. It’s usually raining on his birthday so once we knew the weather was going to hold up we scrambled to find a pool and slip n slide in stock.
Then we realized the kids didn’t have new swimsuits for summer. And while I wasn’t about to strip down to my bathing suit during the party, I’m not beyond joining my kids in the fun on a hot day….and I haven’t had a new swimsuit since I went to Hawaii when I was 20! So I headed to Kohl’s hoping to find a cute and comfortable swimsuit. Not really an easy task for me since I would prefer a one-piece but they usually don’t fit right.
I started off with this cute one-piece, hoping against hope that it would work for me. I loved the rouching over the tummy area to hide small flaws and the ruffle around the top, perfect for smaller breasts. No such luck though — I’m too tall for a one piece and this suit didn’t fit comfortably.
Next I tried this tankini top. I liked the black & white pattern but this one just didn’t work for me either. I love that there are so many mix and match options at Kohl’s. I picked one cute pair of black bikini bottoms that worked great with all of the other tops I liked.
Here are the other two tops I tried along with the black bottoms. Even though brights aren’t really my thing, I ended up liking the pink top best. It was the most comfortable and had the tummy rouching that I liked from the one-piece. Best of all, most of the swimsuits were 40% off, plus I had a 15% off $100 coupon which meant I got to do some other shopping while I was there!
I don’t have a ton of fashion sense and keep things pretty simple but I loved the advice from a Kohl’s video I saw — White capris are a key piece I can dress up or down!
This pair of white capris was only $24.99 and I liked they way they fit. They had quite a bit of stretch to them too, making them super comfy! You can cuff them at the bottom or leave them alone! They’re perfect with a bright colored tee and a pretty necklace or with a dressier top and some heels. These pants are so versatile, they’re definitely a must-have summer staple!
If you’re shopping in-store be sure to log-in to Kohl’s free wi-fi on your mobile phone if it’s available. I got a $5 off $25 coupon!

I lost 120 lbs and could really use some more fashionable clothes, I still shop at Walmart because I’m afraid of losing or gaining weight, lol. I’ve kept it off a year, sigh!
