First, sign up and select the school you want to donate to. Whenever you shop online, check the Marketplace to see if the store you’ll be shopping at is a participant (There are over 250 of them!). Old Navy is a popular one for back to school shopping and they offer 2 boxtops for every $10 spent. Here is an example of how you can maximize your savings while earning money for your school at the same time. Boxtops for Education gave me a $100 gift card to try out the Marketplace. I’ve got 3 kids who always seem to need clothes so with Old Navy’s great prices, I decided to see how far I could stretch it. For just over $100 (free shipping on $50+!) I added 2 pairs of jeans, a pair of athletic pants, a polo, and a button up shirt for my son to my cart. All of these items work well for back to school but can also be used during the summer. For my daughters, I added more summer items — 2 pairs of shorts and 3 tops. Ten items for around $100, or roughly $10 per item — not bad!
Through 6/16 you can earn Old Navy SuperCash — this order earns $30 to spend at a future date — enough to buy my middle daughter 2 pairs of jeans for school bringing the average cost per item down even further. To top it off, save another 20% on the total with code ONTAKE20 through 6/1!
$100 spent at Old Navy through the Boxtops Marketplace earns 10 Box Tops for Riverview Elementary, our designated school of choice. Wins all around!
Box Tops for Education and its online Marketplace have helped nearly 90,000 schools across the country earn more than $525 million since the program started in 1996. Box Tops earnings are unrestricted dollars that schools can use for whatever they need most — from textbooks, laptops and musical instruments, to playground equipment, field trips and basic classroom supplies. BTFE sent me a $100 gift card to use on the BTFE Marketplace site and asked me to write about my shopping experience. See Mommies With Cents disclosure policy for more details.
