I love being a mom in today’s world. There are so many cool products and experiences for my children and it’s fun to share them together. Something I would have loved as a little girl, and my girls were in awe of is the Popar Toys A Princess And Her Pals 3D Book. It’s unlike anything we’ve ever seen! This hardcover book can be enjoyed on it’s own but when paired with a computer or mobile device, the images literally jump off the page creating an adventure world to explore.
Using an iOS (iPad, iPhone or iTouch) or an Android device pointed at the book’s pages, the images come alive on it’s screen allowing you a 360 degree view of different rooms in the castle. The technology used is called AR. A code is embedded on each page that is picked up by the device’s camera enabling the 3D functionality which you have to see to believe. The characters walk around the room and when you tap on them, they pop up so it appears they are coming off the screen. It super cool! Luckily, these books are priced really affordably at only $19.99 each. The app you need to use with it is a free download.
My girls had a wonderful time learning how to use the book with the app. They loved the story which included questions to engage them as the Princesses gathered up their belongings to get ready for the Rainbow Ball. The story is also great for color recognition for young readers.
As a side note, we had to remove our iPad from it’s case for ease of use. While it worked with it on, it was a little awkward for the girls to use since we have a portfolio case and the cover kept getting in the way of the camera. Once we removed it, it was a lot easier for the girls to maneuver as they explored the castle.
