Are your children pet lovers? My girls love animals but we don’t have any pets. I feel a little guilty about it, but not enough to get one! Instead, I try to encourage pretend play. HABA has just introduced two new play sets that are perfect furry friend companions for children 18 months and up.
We have the Play Set Hound Leo and I have to say, is super adorable. The little plush dog comes with his own blanket, dog dish and dog bone. My youngest, Parker, likes to cover him up and play peek-a-boo with him. My older daughter likes to find different types of food that will fit in his bowl —no easy task, since it’s pretty tiny! Since the Leo set has four pieces, I would have loved to see it come packaged in a little portable house with a handle that holds it all. Other than that, this set is pretty awesome.
I love the size because it doesn’t take up much space (our house is over-run by TOYS!) which means it can be taken along on road trips, day outings etc. It inspires imaginative play, a great alternative for my gadget obsessed kids. Both Parker and Kinny lovingly take care of their new, very low maintenance pet. Leo is a great addition to the family!
More of a kitten type person? HABA offers a similar set, Play Set Cat Lucy, that comes with her own basket for naptime and toy mouse for playtime which is equally adorable. Both sets retail for around $20.
