We always talk about “back-to-school” and being busy but lets face it, school or not, families are busy every day. I don’t know a single mother who doesn’t wish there were more hours in a day. Dinner time is a particular problem for me because if I don’t plan ahead, it’s suddenly dinner time, the kids are hungry, I’m frazzled and take-out becomes the easiest option. With Kraft Recipe Makers planning meals ahead of time is easy and you’ll always be prepared making dinner time a lot less stressful. Our family does our weekly grocery shopping on Saturday or Sunday. Sometimes we are ready with a list and meal plan for the week. Sometimes we wing it and make it up as we go. Either way, Kraft Recipe Makers fit right in. You can find them in the meat department shelved on racks on or near the refrigerated meat coolers. This is where I found them at my local store:
They can also be found within the “Meal Starters” Section on the aisle nearest the meat department shelved among other meal starter solutions like Campbell’s Skillet Sauces and Progresso Recipe Starters.
Kraft Recipe Starters are a combination of two savory sauces that along with your fresh ingredients make a fabulous dish. They are available in 7 different varieties at Safeway (and affiliates). I love that each box has not just one recipe idea, but three! The Verde Chicken Enchilada variety for example can also be made into Verde Chicken Chili or Verde Nacho Casserole. The sauces include a Creamy Ranchero filling sauce and a Tomatillo finishing sauce. This variety is perfect for my family because we almost always have the fresh ingredients on hand to make the enchiladas: corn tortillas, cheese and chicken. It only takes a few minutes to put the enchiladas together and it makes a delicious meal when served with rice and a salad.
Making this meal was really easy. First you mix 4 cups of cooked and shredded chicken with the Creamy Ranchero Filling Sauce. Put 1/4 cup of chicken in each tortilla and roll them up. The Tomatillo Finishing sauce is already divided for you so add one packet to the bottom of your glass baking dish, then put your rolled tortillas on top. Use the second packet of Tomatillo Finishing sauce to cover the enchiladas. Sprinkle with cheese and bake.
The box says this recipe serves 6. It easily fed my family of 5 and we had enough left over for 2 lunches the next day. My kids are little though so they didn’t eat much — they did enjoy it though which says a lot! The sauces are VERY mild so you don’t have to worry about this one being too spicy for kids.
I can’t wait to try some of the other varieties of Kraft Recipe Makers. They have different varieties of prep methods including in a slow cooker, skillet or oven. The slow cooker one sounds right up my alley for fall! What about you? Do you like products that make dinners easier?
