Our neighbor is a piano instructor. Just the other day I asked her at what age she starts instruction. She told me that she recommends starting between age 6 and 7 but has instructed students as young as age 4. The one thing she requires is practicing at home, preferably on a full sized piano. She realizes this isn’t always possible but wants to make sure her students have something to practice their skills on at home.
