Until recently I had never heard of Kefir cheese. I love just about any type of cheese so I was surprised to hear of a variety that I hadn’t tried yet! Karoun Dairies sent me a variety of their products for me to try including samples of their Kefir cheese!
Kefir Lite Cheese (also available in regular) — This spreadable yogurt cheese is similar in consistency to cream cheese. It tastes somewhat similar too but with a touch of the tartness of yogurt. I really enjoyed it with Gratify gluten-free pretzels. I just dipped them right in the container! Full of probiotics and high in protein and calcium, Karoun’s Lite Kefir is a great product for satisfying those creamy cheese cravings without going over your calorie count. I found it to be a great snack but it would also be good on a bagel for breakfast or lunch or even as a main ingredient for dip! Check out this delicious recipe:
Lite Kefir Cheese & Peach Dip
Ingredients:
1 lb. Karoun Dairies Lite Kefir Cheese
1 peach, pitted and diced
1/4 cup almonds, chopped
Honey, drizzled
1 pinch cayenne pepper, to taste
Directions:
Combine Lite Kefir Cheese, peaches, and almonds in a bowl. Mix together and top with honey and cayenne pepper. Enjoy with pita chips, crisp wafers, or gluten-free crackers.
Another thing I had never heard of but was very intrigued by is Grilling cheese. You can grill this stuff right in the pan and get that awesome tasting golden crust of cheese my husband and I always fight over right on the surface of the cheese. Can you say “YUM”?
