JAKKS Pacific gave us a Girl Gourmet Cupcake Maker to review and since I have a one year old little boy who isn’t really suited to this product, I had my favorite 8 year old little girl, Riley, come over to help me test it out.

Girl Gourmet Cupcake Maker comes with everything you need to make 4 frosted cupcakes including cake mix, frosting mix, sprinkles, tools etc. The only thing you will need is a microwave.

First, we mixed up our cake mix and poured it into the cupcake holder which we lined with a cute printed cupcake paper (included) Then we put it into the baker and into the microwave it went. 30 seconds later, like magic, we had a real cupcake! I was amazed that it was so easy and came out so well.

While it was cooling we mixed up the frosting and loaded it into the cupcake froster. On the first cupcake we made the mistake of making the frosting a little too thin and not waiting long enough for the cupcake to cool. The frosting came out too fast and melted a little and ran down the sides of the cupcake. It still looked really cute and Riley said it tasted “delicious” It was red velvet cake with strawberry frosting.

While making the second cupcake we experimented a little and made a few changes. When the cupcake was done baking we put it in the refrigerator to cool it off while we mixed up the frosting. This time we added less water and came up with a thicker frosting. Still, it came out of the froster “gollywhompas” and wasn’t quite what we were aiming for.
All in all, this product is perfectly suited to girls 8+ years old just as the packaging describes. We had a lot of fun and with a little more experimenting I’m sure we’d come up with a perfectly frosted cupcake!
