We finally got a day of spring weather around here. And yes, it was only a day. The rain is back and we are left yearning for more sunshine. On the bright side, we did take advantage of that one sunny day. Jackson put on hiscbrand new Umi sandals and we headed out back with some sidewalk chalk. The temperature was in the low 60’s so it still feels a bit chilly to me. We kept on our lightweight jackets and Jackson insisted on wearing socks with his sandals. Hey, we do live in the Seattle area afterall. Didn’t we start that fashion trend?
As a mom, I appreciate the quality of Umi shoes. Last summer we reviewed a pair as well. Jackson wore them every. single. day. To the beach, to the park, camping- everywhere! And they held up beautifully! I expect no less from his current pair. They are the same basic style as last year’s pair with one exception. The Jakarta covers and protects his toes. My little guy is much more active now- running, jumping, karate kicks and just plain being an energetic three year old. I love that his precious little toes are protected while still having the breatheability of the sandal. Jakarta appears to no longer be available on the Umi website but there is a selection of styles very similar to the ones reviewed here.

My one year old daughter also received a pair of Umi sandals. She didn’t get to wear hers outside because they are still a bit big for her. They were ordered awhile ago and I over estimated her foot growth. I’m hoping by the time the sun comes out to stay for awhile that these precious sandals will fit her better. She did try them on for a photograph though, and to test them out a little. She’s been walking for quite awhile now, in fact she’s actually quite the quick little runner. The soft leather and padding in these shoes will help protect her feet from irritating rubbing that many lesser quality sandals often inflict.
