KidsCraft Playhouses, available in a house-style called Creation Cottage, and a space ship style called Shuttle Imagination, are made out of 100% recycled cardboard. They are shipped flat and easy to put together. We had ours up in about 20 minutes (most people probably could have done it faster). Basically, you just fold on the lines and insert the tabs into slots. The only minor problem I ran into was that the tabs are a little flimsy (they are cardboard, after all) and the layers started to separate a little making it difficult to put the tab through the slot. The end result though was a blissfully happy little boy, a perfect little cardboard cottage and a Mommy who felt like Super Mom.
I got out the markers and we did a little “painting”. The cardboard is white which makes a perfect canvas for creativity. Jackson wasn’t interested in this so much though. He busied himself making his house a home by dragging in a blanket, a couch pillow and a handful of his favorite toys. He played in it for the rest of the afternoon and could hardly wait to show his sister when she woke from her nap. When Grandma called, he wanted to tell her all about it and when Daddy arrived home from work, Jackson grabbed his hand and said “C’mon Daddy! See my new fort!”
We had a play date today and the Creation Cottage was a hit, just as I knew it would be. Both kids fit comfortably inside and they had fun passing stuff through the windows of the house. This cardboard playhouse won’t last forever but it can be recycled when it’s time is up.
The Creation Cottage retails for $59.95 and the Shuttle Imagination retails for $69.95. Get free shipping through 4/30/2010.

Jackson and I would hit it off well! I’m still into forts! Such a fun giveaway.
My two year old Mia and I would love to play with this!! Great idea.
I learned they give a portion of all proceeds to benefit children’s charities.
