Summer always seems to sneak up on me. Well, the weather at least. Here in the Seattle area we like to start summer off slow. Cool mornings and evenings with warm yet mild temps during the day. Then, seemingly out of nowhere we’ll hit a heat streak. I know some of you will laugh but around here, when it’s in the 80’s for several days in a row, that’s hot to us! I’m kind of a wimp on both ends of the spectrum. I don’t like it hot and I don’t like to be cold. That’s why most of my wardrobe’s tops are 3/4 sleeve or longer. Those just won’t do during our “heat streaks” though.

I was drawn to both the color and the stripes of this top. The extra detailing was an added bonus. This shirt features a shirt tail hem so it’s longer in the back than the front. The back also has several small buttons running down it for added style. The loose fit is flattering and helps keep you cool. The fabric is unbelievably soft and comfortable.
I always worry about sizing when ordering online but I used the size chart on cable & gauge and was relieved to find that the size small tops fit perfectly when they arrived.
Button Front Crochet Blouse — $29 (also available in blue)
Coral has recently become one of my favorite colors so I couldn’t resist this top. The blue color it comes in is really pretty too but I couldn’t be swayed. This light and airy sleeveless top is loose fitting through the mid-section and hips with it’s slightly longer length making it really comfortable. The fabric which is 60% rayon and 40% polyester has a linen-like look to it. The crocheted detailing at the neckline is so pretty I debated whether or not to wear a necklace. I love these two colors together though and wear this necklace that my five year old bought me for Mother’s Day every chance I get.
Both tops look cute with cropped jeans. The striped shirt is a little more casual so I wore it with flip flops. I wore bronze wedges with the sleeveless top for a slightly more polished look. Overall I was really impressed with cable & gauge because I felt I got a good value —quality items at reasonable prices. The tops even came with extra buttons — the blue one even came with extra matching thread! I doubt I’ll ever need them but love that they were included just in case.
