With three kids who love to be outdoors, we go through a lot of sunscreen during the summer months. Since it typically rains most of the fall and winter here in the Seattle area, we use significantly less during these seasons however it is still important to protect your skin even on overcast days if you’ll be spending time outside. Finding a sunscreen that works well, isn’t irritating for my sensitive skinned children and doesn’t cost an arm and leg hasn’t been easy. The best thing we’ve found is No-Ad, a brand that offers a wide variety of sun protection at a great price.
NO-AD offers the same advanced sun care ingredients as other national brands but at a much better price. I love that the bottles are a generous 16 oz for the lotion and cost roughly the same as a bottle half the size of most other brands. The brand keeps the cost down by not buying expensive TV, magazine or radio ads so that it can offer it’s product for a more afford price. They even offer a spray formula in a 10 ounce can — the biggest spray can I’ve seen for around $10.
NO-AD products are PABA free and not tested on animals. It was selected as a “Best Buy” for years in a row by a major consumer review magazine and has receive the Skin Cancer Foundation’s seal for safe and effective sun protection. Below you can see the products NO-AD offers as well as the suggested retail price:
The great price, larger sized bottles and gentle formula make the NO-AD Sunscreen a “win” in my book. My oldest daughter has the biggest problem with skin sensitivity. Sunscreens can be a pretty big problem and since we’re using them almost every day in the summer I have to find one that she can use. I won’t say that this sunscreen doesn’t affect her skin at all but it’s the best one we’ve found that doesn’t cost an arm and a leg. After a few days of constant use she might get a few bumps but nothing she can’t tolerate. Sometimes we take a sunscreen break with an inside day so that her skin can recover. This isn’t saying anything bad about the sunscreen — she just has very sensitive skin! My other kids do great with it!
NO-AD offers these sun protection tips:
- Limit sun exposure, particularly between 10 a.m. and 4 p.m. when the sun’s harmful UV rays are the strongest and most damaging to your skin
- Use a water-resistant, broad-spectrum SPF sunscreen with a value of 15 or higher
- Liberally apply sun protection 20-30 minutes before sun exposure
- Reapply every hour as needed, particularly after swimming or perspiring
- Wear sunscreen even on cloudy days
NO-AD can be found in most food, drug and mass retailers throughout United States and in 35 countries around the world. NO-AD products can be ordered through drugstore.com or walmart.com.
A complimentary product/service was provided for this review, however, all opinions expressed are my own. I was not compensated in any other way. See Mommies With Cents disclosure policy for more details.
