My kids love paying for things themselves. It makes them feel grown up. They are also fascinated with coupons, especially ones that are good for a free item. They see me use them and often ask me if they can hand the coupons over to the cashier for me. It’s kind of adorable and a good lesson in ways to save money. This month participating Wendy’s restaurants are offering Halloween coupon books for only $1 to support foster care adoption. $0.90 from every coupon book sold from 9/13-10/31 will benefit the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption. The goal this year is to give $10 million to the foundation which has been supported by Wendy’s for 22 years. It’s mission is to help every child in foster care find a loving, permanent family.
There are currently over 100,000 children in foster care awaiting adoption. The Dave Thomas Foundation and Wendy’s consumers have helped over 4000 children find adoptive families and you can help too! Just pick up a few coupon books! Each coupon booklet will contain 5 or 10 coupons that can be redeemed for a free Jr. Frosty from 11/1/14-2/1/15. There are a variety of different ways you can use them. These are just a few of my own ideas but you can get creative and use them however you like:
- Hand them out instead of candy at Halloween
- Use them as rewards for chores
- Use them as party favors
- Use them for random acts of kindness — leave one on someone’s windshield or drop an envelope off on a friend or neighbor’s doorstep
- Mail a couple to an out of town niece or nephew
- Treat a teacher or coach
- Stocking Stuffers (Remember, the expiration date isn’t until 2/1/15!)
- Secret Santa gifts
I figured that since my kids probably aren’t the only ones who enjoy coupons, the Wendy’s Halloween Coupons would make a great finishing touch for the goody boxes our guests would get at my youngest daughter’s 4th birthday party. The boxes were already loaded with candy, toys and stickers but there was still enough room left to sneak in a coupon. You wouldn’t believe how excited kids get over the anticipation of redeeming their very own coupons!
I love the idea of the kids taking home a few goodies they can enjoy now, plus one they can enjoy later when they redeem their coupon for a free Jr. Frosty at Wendy’s. What I love even more is that we are supporting a good cause at the same time. Whether you hand the coupons out for Halloween or just keep them stashed in the car for random treats when you’re on the road visit your local Wendy’s® to purchase a Jr. Frosty™ Halloween Coupon Book* for $1, which benefits theDave Thomas Foundation for Adoption®!
*Coupon book may contain coupons for 5 or 10 free Jr. Frosty™ treats. Prices and participation may vary. Ninety cents to every $1 coupon booklet sold between 9/15/14 and 10/31/14 will benefit the Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption®. Coupons valid from 11/1/14 through 2/1/15. ©2014 Oldemark LLC”
