My hair is fairly long and very straight. Sometimes I used a flat iron to smooth it out but I’ve been lusting after the perfect beach-y curls. My hair and curl apparently don’t get along very well because I even went as far as getting perm a few weeks ago and it fell out the same day. I typically have the same results with curling irons but I like to try anyway. I get just the look I’m going for with the new Remington T-Studio Silk Ceramic Oval Waving Wand. Before I got this, I had never used a wand before. I was surprised how much easier it is to use than a curling iron! It comes with a heat resistant glove since there’s no clamp and you have to use your hand to wrap the hair around the barrel and hold it on the tip of the barrel. Some wands don’t have a tip like this one does so it’s especially important to use a glove to protect yourself from burns.
The Oval waving wand, because of it’s shape, offers imperfect curls. They are less bouncy and have more of a kink to them. It gives my hair that beach-y, slightly messy look that I had hoped to make permanent.
What do you think of the results?:
I love that it gives my hair a little bit of body and style. It’s easy to do if I have an extra 15-20 minutes in the morning. I have to wrap pretty small pieces so it probably takes me longer than it would if you have less difficult hair than mine. I have to say, I love the pink color of the wand. It’s just FUN. The wand has a temperature setting so you can set it precisely up to 410 degrees. I’m really glad it has a temp lock because I accidentally hit the buttons a lot while I’m using it. To lock in the temperature you just have to hold down the “-” button. It only takes about 30 seconds to heat up which is really nice when you’re in a hurry. It has an auto-off feature that really puts my mind at ease because I ALWAYS think I left it on, even when I didn’t. It shuts off after 60 minutes.
You can get the Remington T-Studio Silk Ceramic Oval Waving Wand at Target for around 30 bucks — much less than the cost of a perm!
I’m pretty picky when it comes to what I’ll use on my face. I prefer products that are not artificially fragranced. First Aid Beauty products never contain artificial fragrances and they are allergy tested, safe for sensitive skin and dermatologist recommended. The also do not contain any of the yucky stuff like parabens, sulfates or phthalates. The Facial Radiance Overnight Mask keeps your skin nourished and hydrated with a leave-on rich gel cream mask with ingredients that help brighten your skin giving you an even-toned and smoother looking complexion. This mask applies like a moisturizer and works it’s magic over night. It is available for $38 at Sephora. You’ll pay more than that for a single facial at a spa!
