Tips For Black Friday Shopping
Black Friday is only a few weeks away. Do you have a plan of action? You’ll score the best deals if you are prepared. Below are my tips for making the most of the biggest shopping day of the year:
- Do Your Research — Black Friday ads will be leaked early. Find out which stores have the items you need. Be sure to read product reviews and check consumer reports for each specific product. Don’t buy something just because it’s cheap! Make sure it truly is a good deal. Do a price comparison to ensure the best value!
- Browse the Deals and Make a List — You’ll find Walmart’s Black Friday deals here. This is one of my favorite places to shop on Black Friday and usually one of the first places I hit. Check out all of the deals online before hand and make a list in order of priority. There will be limited stock on many of the items and once they’re gone, they’re gone! Note the prices and special hours of the sale on your list to stay organized.
- Bring Ads with You — If you have hard copies of ads, bring them with you! Print out online ads. Many stores have a price match guarantee but will require proof to match or beat the advertised price.
- Prepare Yourself! — Get as much rest as you can before heading out. You will need all the energy you can get! Dress in layers as there may be lines outdoors but once you get moving inside you’ll want to shed some clothing so you won’t overheat. Wear comfortable shoes! You’ll be on your feet for hours. Pack a few light snacks and a water bottle to stayed fueled and hydrated.
- Partner up — Shop with a friend then divide and conquer! You can split up your lists and essentially be two places at once. This works especially well with a friend with a similar shopping list or a spouse. If you’re lists are completely different, it defeats the purpose.
- Stay Connected — Make sure your phone is charged and bring a back up charger. You may need to check in with your shopping buddy from across the store or do any last minute price comparisons online. Your smartphone can be a valuable resource so keep it close and ready!
- Don’t Forget the Gift Receipt — Many stores include them automatically during the holidays but be sure to check or ask if you need one! Carry an envelope to keep all of your receipts neat and organized.
Happy shopping and may you find the best deals this holiday season!
