When we bought our house 2 years ago the only concern we had was how we’d deal without air conditioning in the summer. We live in the Seattle area where weather is typically mild but there are usually some summer days that climb into the mid to upper 80’s. We’ve always had air conditioning even though it’s not very common for homes to have it where we live.
We’ve managed to survive the past two summers. Luckily we live at the bottom of a hill that gets a cool breeze. We have double front doors that open wide to let the cool air in. What we didn’t have to help circulate that air though is a ceiling fan. Our home was a foreclosure and it appears the previous owners took their ceiling fans with them when they left. The good news is, our living room was already wired for a ceiling fan with separate switches for the fan and light. This made it a breeze to install.
I flipped through the Hunter Fan catalog trying to decide on a fan that would look good in our living room. My husband and I have somewhat different tastes so while he likes something a little more modern, I tend to like a more ornate and classy look. I narrowed down my options and showed him what I had come up with. I kind of had my heart set on the Willowcrest fan and even though it wasn’t his favorite, he ultimately let me decide. I think we made a good choice. It looks beautiful in our living room! Don’t you agree?
I just love the design on the base of it. The style of it fits in well with our decor and the “Brittany Bronze” and tea stain glass light shades are the perfect color. This particular fan is 54″ and designed for a large room. It features a WhisperWind mother that offers powerful air movement with little noise. It comes with a 3″ and 2″ downrod so you can decide how far you want the fan to hang down. Other sizes are available separately. The blades of the fan are coated with a special Dust Armor nanotechnology to help repel dust build-up. I was glad to hear this because cleaning other than the basics doesn’t fit into my schedule very often!
The lights on the fan are optional but we liked the look of them and the extra lighting option for our living room. There’s a pull chain that allows for quick and easy on/off and speed adjustments. The fan comes with a limited lifetime motor and is energy efficient. You can find our more about this fan and a wide selection of other fans at www.hunterfan.com.
