Wouldn’t it be nice if doctor’s made house calls? When you or a family member isn’t feeling well, the last thing you want to do is go sit in a waiting room full of other sick people and potentially catch another illness. Amwell is changing healthcare options by offering patients the ability to see a doctor via their app without ever leaving the comfort of their own home. Check out this interview of the company’s CEO Dr. Roy Schoenberg on the Today Show with Al Roker:
Amwell is the leading telehealth company in the United States. It connects users with board-certified doctors, registered nutritionists and licensed therapists in less than 2 minutes over video (desktop or mobile). This service is perfect for busy families because it saves time and money while still allowing patients to see a doctor face-to-face right from the comfort of their homes.
Founded in 2007 by 2 medical doctor brothers, American Well has been downloaded over 1.3 million times across iOS and Android platforms and has been featured by Apple in “Apps for Health”. They were the most popular and downloaded telehealth app in 2014 worldwide by App Annie.
American Well works with large health insurance companies like Anthem and United and over 300 employer groups like Google, IMB, and JetBlue. Chances are, Amwell is the right app for you! In most cases, Amwell has the same network of physicians as your regular health plan with this new way to connect. Want to give it a try for FREE? Use code MOMSLOVEAMWELL to get your first visit free of charge.
Many times Amwell is a great solution. There are times however when you’ll end up needing to make an office appointment. Amwell makes it easy to find a provider in your city with the Amwell find a doctor page! You can find nutritionists, dietitians, psychologists and more!
With Amwell you don’t need to call ahead or wait for a provider – simply log on or call. You can enroll here.
What do you think? Is Amwell a service you’d use? It’s definitely something I’d consider — I love the convenience of it!

One word of caution. As with any service do your homework first. The first service like this I ever tired was because I had a sinus infection. The online doc agreed that it was very likely and offered to call me in a 3 day prescription for antibiotics. I was like, ummm 3 days? That’s awful short. He informed me then that by law in some locales they couldn’t prescribe any more than that. He said I could follow up with my regular Dr after if I needed more. So in the end paid for 2 Dr. visits, one over the phone and one in person, and 2 prescriptions.
