We are in middle of a heat wave, the longest one I can remember. Summers in the Pacific Northwest are typically mild but we’ve been in the upper 80 to low 90s for a couple of weeks and there’s no end in sight. It may not seem that hot to those that live in warmer climates but most people around here do not have air conditioning. Luckily we have a unit in our bedroom because it’s really difficult for me to sleep without blankets no matter how hot it is.
A few weeks ago I received a bamboo throw blanket from Cariloha. It’s the softest blanket I’ve ever had the pleasure of owning. Even better, it has a really nice weight to it that I absolutely love. For me, the heavier the blanket, the more comfortable! The softness comes from bamboo which is softer than cotton or cashmere and it’s hypoallergenic too. The weight comes from the quilt batting that has been added to the blanket’s interior core providing a natural weight that you’d expect from a luxury blanket. It measures 50″x70″ which is an ideal size. It’s not too small or large for cuddling on the couch and it’s large enough to cover the top of our queen sized bed.
My 8 year old son got a Seahawks blanket for his birthday. It was his favorite birthday present and he uses it every day. When I got the Cariloha blanket he tried to trade me. That’s saying a LOT because he really loves his blanket. We compromised by agreeing to snuggle together on the coach on movie nights. Still, I have to guard that blanket or my kids try to run off with it! Thank goodness it’s machine washable and dry-able!
