If there’s one day kids look forward to, it’s their birthday. In our family we have a tradition. The birthday child gets to pick the cake flavor, frosting flavor and color and theme for their cupcakes.
It’s always cupcakes. They put a lot of thought into their birthday treat and are always so proud to share them with their birthday guests. It’s fun to incorporate traditions into birthdays and it helps with planning too! I encourage families to create yearly traditions so kids can have something extra special to look forward to all year long!
Toys“R”Us wants to be part of the birthday celebration and engage with their customers during their child’s special day. They’ve recently updated Geoffrey’s Birthday Club. Register your children’s birthdays and receive special birthday-month offers.
They’ve created a children’s book about Geoffrey the Giraffe titled, “The Legend of Geoffrey.” The book tells the story of how Geoffrey arrived at Toys“R”Us, how he got his stars and why he loves birthdays so much. Toys“R”Us has also launched monthly in-store birthday events nationwide, allowing kids to experience the magic of the book and their birthday at their local Toys“R”Us store.
The next event is taking place this Saturday, August 20 from 3-4pm. During this event and all those following, Geoffrey’s Birthday Club members who are celebrating a birthday on/around the day* will have the opportunity to participate in story time with Geoffrey and receive a complimentary “The Legend of Geoffrey” book, crown, balloon and Geoffrey plush, PLUS dance to Geoffrey’s brand-new birthday song in a conga line around the store. And, Geoffrey’s Birthday Club members also receive a personalized birthday card, a phone call from Geoffrey and a special gift!
Pretty cool, right? The conga line sounds like so much fun! Of course, Toys“R”Us is the ultimate place to find for birthday gifts too! It’s my go-to for birthday shopping. Whether for my own kids or others I always find the perfect gift at Toys“R”Us. My oldest (age 9) always and without fail, asks for Legos for his birthday. That makes shopping easy! If you are shopping for a boy of just about any age, construction toys like Lego and Mega Bloks are an excellent choice. These are the gifts we usually give to Jackson’s friends as well and Toys“R”Us has an excellent selection. Don’t count out the girls though! My middle child (age 7) is artistic and a bit of a girly-girl. She would absolutely LOVE this Shimmer ‘n Sparkle Nail Design Studio from CraZArt. We can’t go to Toys“R”Us without a trip down the arts and crafts aisle. They’ve got a great selection there as well! Again, art supplies are good choice for boys and girls of all ages! What kid doesn’t enjoy Play Doh or an art set?
Last but not least, my youngest (age 5) can’t get enough Shopkins! These are very popular toys and highly collectible! I have to admit, this is something I would have loved as a child too so it’s fun to indulge and let them get a little carried away with the craze. Shopkins are little miniature characters of food items, clothing and other things you might shop for. Each one has an adorable name and you can get sets like the one above that include a shop of some sort. So fun!
