When we were offered the chance to try another Gramma in a Box we did not hesitate to take it! We had so much fun with the first box, McKinley has been telling me that she wants a subscription for her birthday which unfortunately isn’t any time soon. She was thrilled when she heard that Gramma Terry was sending her the August Beach Party Treats box. As expected, it did not disappoint!
What is Gramma in the Box, you ask? Each month members receive a specially prepared box including cookies to decorate complete with frosting and sprinkles, plus two easy candy crafts. You’ll get all the supplies you need to make up to 20 treats to share for only $20 per month. You can also purchase a 3, 6 or 12 month subscription for slightly reduced prices. I know I’d be spending a lot more than $20 for the supplies and putting in a lot more time to prepare the projects. Grammy Terry does all of this for you! As you can see from the photo above, everything is very organized. The only extra supplies you might need are things you most likely already have such as a spoon, knife, toothpicks, microwave safe bowl and paper plates. It comes with step by step directions for each project including tips from Gramma Terry. Here’s what we made with this month’s box:
Project #1 were these cute little goldfish bowls. This is a pretty easy project but the results are super adorable! Basically you just dip a marshmallow into melting chocolate, dip the bottom into some graham cracker crumbs and stick a goldfish cracker to it.

Project #2 was Seashell Pretzels. Now THIS one was McKinley’s favorite one to eat. She loves the sweet/salty combo just like her mama! For this craft you use the leftover melting chocolate from project #1. The seashells are already made so you just stick them on along with the sprinkles after coating your pretzels. Another fun, easy and delicious craft!
Last but not least was the cookie decorating. McKinley LOVES this part of the box because she can get more creative with it. She sometimes uses leftovers from the other projects to switch things up. She really takes her time and uses her imagination with the cookie decorating portion of the box. This month it came with fish, seashell and star shaped cookies.
McKinley really loves to share, especially when it’s something she loves because she wants others to experience it as well. She let her little sister decorate a couple of the cookies and her less crafty brother got to enjoy eating the treats with both of them.
I supervised these crafts but at age 9, McKinley could totally handle doing all of these on her own as long as I remind her to read the directions thoroughly first. She loves watching cooking shows, especially the baking/decorating ones. This lets her get her feet wet without having to use the oven and the mess is minimal.
