My kids are getting to the age when a cell phone will become a necessity. I’ve been putting it off for several reasons. I don’t want them to be glued to a phone all of the time for one. Secondly, smartphones can be expensive! I’ve been looking into our options though because my oldest is almost 12. He’s starting to be more independent. We are involved parents and typically don’t do “drop offs” to any events. We stay for sports practices and participate in other activities with our kids. It’s becoming more of a challenge though as our kids get older because their schedules are a lot fuller these day! For the first time, all three of our kids are in select sports at the same time. In addition, they continue some of their off season sports practices/lessons and participation in other activities. Since there are only two of us, and three of them something has to give. Luckily there are other parents we can trust with our kiddos when we can’t be there but we also want our kids to be able to reach us when needed. The Alcatel 3V has a generously sized 6 inch 2K (2160 x 1080) 18:9 display for stunning clarity with vivid colors and comes with many features you’d expect in a much more expensive device. It runs on Android Oreo and has advanced facial recognition and fingerprint sensor. The facial recognition feature scans your face into over a hundred points and the embedded fingerprint sensor ensures safe and quick access to the device.
I love how thin and lightweight it is. While it does have a large screen, it still fits nicely in your hand and isn’t awkwardly heavy. It weights just 5.47 oz. Even though it’s lightweight, it has a large and power efficient 3,000mAh battery that offers up to 9 hours of talk time and 370 hours of standby.
A high quality camera isn’t as important to me in a phone my kids will be using but this one has a pretty decent one that they’ll really appreciate. It features a 5MP front camera with flash for well lit selfies and a duel rear camera with 12MP primary camera + 2MP secondary depth camera with LED flash. This produces greater depth of field and allows you to refocus your photo after it’s taken for beautiful images and real time bokeh effect. This phone also captures video with 1080p. That’s pretty awesome for a phone at this price!
Adding to the whole package is a suite of intuitive photo editing tools called Social Mode that allow you to take, edit and share photos in a fun and more efficient way.
While the Alcatel 3V doesn’t have a ton of storage (2GB RAM / 16GB ROM) it can be expanded with MicroSD Support up to 128 GB! That’s plenty! The Alcatel comes with in-ear headphones, a clear case and screen protector. I’m very impressed with all the great features and the HUGE value this phone offers for the low price! It’s the perfect phone for any teen, pre-teen or even an adult that wants a good phone for a great price.
