SONIC’s Limeades for Learning 10th annual Fall Voting campaign ends in just a few short days but there’s still time to get your votes in to help SONIC support public school teachers. Each week throughout the month of October the project with the most votes at the end of each week will receive funding. SONIC has allocated $1 million to donate during this campaign so don’t forget to vote! Visit LimeadesForLearning.com and vote daily on specific teacher projects that inspire you. There are four ways to earn votes for teacher projects throughout the Fall Voting campaign:
- Vote once daily after signing up with a valid email address
- Visit a SONIC Drive-In to get a bag sticker code worth two votes
- Vote ten times to receive two extra votes via email
- Share on social media to earn two extra votes
Ten years ago, SONIC Drive-In partnered with DonorsChoose.org to recognizing that public school teachers needed more support. In 2009 they launched Limeades for Learning, a national award winning initiative to support U.S. public school teachers in local communities. Since the launch, SONIC has donated $10.4 million to public school teachers nationwide to fund essential learning materials and innovative teaching resources that inspire creativity and learning.
This program is pretty amazing and it feels good to be a part of it. All donations big and small make an impact and are very much appreciated. SONIC gave me a $200 DonorsChoose gift card to donate to projects that inspired me. I looked up the school that my kids attend and found several projects that still needed funding, one of which had already impacted my own child!
Ms. Sheeler’s kindergarten class needed more hands-on learning for their Healthy Me and Our Living Things science units. Each project on DonorsChoose.org shows exactly where your donation will go with a list of supplies and their cost. I was able to complete the funding Ms. Sheeler needed for her class to receive a root viewer, a weather learning center, microscope slides and more to help bring science topics to life.
There was still a little bit of money on the gift card so I chose to donate it to Mrs. Beverford’s “The Best Birthday Gift Ever…Literacy!” project. Mrs. Beverford just implemented the program this year for her elementary students but needs more support. Every student will receive the gift of a new book on their birthday. My second grader was so happy when she was called down to the office to select her new book and she even got a birthday card signed by the entire Riverview Elementary staff. It was a really neat experience for her! This project reaches and impacts every single student and is an awesome way to get them excited about reading.
The morning after I made my donations I received an email from each of the teachers thanking me for my donation. Later that day I was at school for my children’s conferences. I happened to see both of them and they thanked me again in person. Donations mean a lot to them and can make a big impact! Ms. Sheeler was especially excited because the funding came in just in time for her kindergarteners as they start their new science unit. They’ll get more hands on learning with the supplies that were requested and will make a big difference in their learning experience!
I love that I was able to help teachers and students that I know personally. Check out DonorsChoose.org and see where you can help in your own community.
By 2021 SONIC’s total contribution to local public school classrooms will exceed $20 million. You can be a part of that just by voting! There are only a few days left for this year’s campaign so visit LimeadesForLearning.com to get your votes in today!
