Holiday parties are always fun but my favorite parties are ones which include the White Elephant game. There are all sorts of variations on this game but the general idea is to bring an unusual wrapped gift to the party with no intended recipient in mind. The first player picks a wrapped gift and opens it. The next player may select a wrapped gift or may choose to steal from any player before them. The final player has a big decision to make — they can choose any gift they want! Depending on the crowd, this game can be hilariously funny. My grandma organized this game one year. She brought all of the gifts but she had intended recipients in mind for each one and kept trying to tell us which ones to pick. There was a fur steering wheel cover, a costco sized box of fabric softener dryer sheets, chocolate truffles and junk from the dollar store. It was so funny seeing which gifts people wanted and even funnier watching my grandma try to control the game!
