Over Christmas break my kids got to do some super fun Goosebumps 2 activities in honor of the digital release via the Movies Anywhere app. They liked it so much they’ve watched it several times since. If you’re more of a hard copy type of family you’ll be happy to know that Goosebumps 2 was released on DVD/Blu-Ray today, January 15th! Our family still uses both but if you haven’t checked out the Movies Anywhere app it’s really awesome. We don’t always plan well ahead so it’s nice to be able to access some of our movies from our phone or other screen device.
My kids were already Goosebumps fans and enjoy things that are a little creepy and scary so they were excited to watch this movie. As expected, all three of them (ages, 8, 10 and 11) loved it. If your kids are younger or scare easily, you may want to preview this movie ahead of time. It is rated PG for scary creature action and images, some thematic elements, rude humor and language. The movie, directed by Academy Award winner Ari Sandel is based on the beloved Scholastic book series by R.L Stine. The run time is approximately 2 hours.
Here’s the synopsis:
Be careful what you wish for. With their after school junk business, best friends Sonny and Sam hope to find treasure in other people’s trash. But when cleaning out the old Stine house, they open a locked book that frees a supernatural nightmare- Slappy! Now, with the help of Sonny’s sister Sarah, they’re in a race against time to get the sinister dummy and all the creatures he’s brought to life back into the pages before he unleashes total pandemonium!

My daughter was home sick from school the other day and requested to watch Goosebumps 2. My little snuggle bug wanted me close by so I watched the movie with her. It’s definitely a family movie that everyone can enjoy. I personally like animated movies but also love that my kids are growing up along with their tastes in movies which include real actors and actresses. Consider Goosebumps 2 for your next family movie night and add it to your collection!
