My youngest daughter got the short end of the stick when we moved into our home about 7 years ago. She was only two at the time. My oldest two got their own rooms upstairs but since the master bedroom is on the main floor and I wanted to keep the little one a little closer to me during the night, she got the small office as a bedroom. Our intention was that when she got a little older she would share a bedroom with her sister. It was set up perfectly with two closets and plenty of room for two beds. Unfortunately that never came to fruition. At 8 and 10 years old, neither of them want to share a room and Parker is happy for the most part with her little room.
Parker has never really been a girlie girl. Her favorite color for the longest time was blue. I wanted to make her room a special place so I painted it a pretty robins egg blue and got her a cute bedspread. I made her some curtains and let her decorate a little. Now that she’s a little older her tastes have changed and she’s been begging me to re-do her room. Her favorite color now is black and she’s a big Washington Huskies fan. I didn’t want to spend a lot of money but knew I could update her room on a budget and really make her happy.
I had some leftover paint from my son’s room and it was just enough to change the walls from light blue to grey. The twin set came with one matching pillow sham (other sizes come with two). The lightweight quilt is great for summer nights and makes a great extra layer when the weather turns colder.
The quilt sets are so affordable! We also got this Classic & Luxurious Oversized Embroidered Set with a little square pattern on it. This one was even less at only $34.99. Both come in a wide variety of colors to match any room and are machine washable for easy care.
It’s hard to tell in the photo but the wall color dramatically different. We still have some work to do with little added touches. Her bed frame is pink so it needs to be painted. We are also on the hunt for a new rug and some cool Huskies wall decor but it’s a good start! The whole vibe of her room has changed and we are under $50!
We really love the brick pattern and my daughter really loves spending time in her room now. The new look reflects her personality and makes the space special to her.
Even the cat loves the new bedding. It’s nice to have a backup quilt so I can make the bed right back up while the other set is washing.
