I took my kids shopping for school supplies today. That means end is in sight. The end of summer, that is…when the kids head back to school and I get my sanity back. I’m only kidding…sort of. Having the kids home during the day means my house is never fully picked up. They make messes faster than I can clean them. By the end of the summer my need for organization almost consumes me and I start counting down the days to when I can start clearing out the clutter, have a more defined schedule, and get back to creating weekly meal plans. We are almost there!
Don’t get me wrong, I love my kids to the moon and back but they’re getting bored and restless which means more bickering and fighting. I think they’re ready to get back into the swing of things too. While I was shopping for their school supplies and seeing all of the cute folders and accessories I realized I could use a cool notebook myself. Then I remembered that Archer & Olive had sent me one of their Dot Grid Blackout Journals for me to try out just last week. I had been thinking that I might give it to my daughter but then I realized I could use a little fun in my life too and this awesome journal might just give me the motivation to STAY organized for longer than the first week or two of school.
Archer and Olive Dot Grid Black Out Books are awesome. Each book contains 160 BLACK 160 GSM pages with white dots that create a grid. The pages have gold gilded edges to match the gold moon and stars on the front of the black linen cover. There are so many uses — create calendars, charts or to-do lists. Set goals. Keep a journal. Write a story. Doodle. No matter what you do, please doodle. Doodles look so cool on the black paper that is thick enough that it won’t bleed or cause ghosting.
Archer and Olive notebooks are bound by hand with superior craftsmanship and the pages lay perfectly flat when opened. The .5cm dot grid pages are ideal for bullet planners but also great any of your artistic designs. Archer and Olive thought of everything when creating these awesome notebooks:
- a convenient elastic band to keep your journal shut tight when not in use
- two ribbons to mark your place inside the journal
- a pen holder to store your marker or pen inside
Metallic and Neon gel pens work great on the black pages. The colors pop right off the pages and make it really fun to use. For me, deciding on 5 meals for the week and then shopping for them makes my week so much less stressful. Our evenings are super busy with sports so having an advanced plan is a must. I loved doodling my meal plan in this notebook with bright colors. I might even use it to make a bulleted shopping list! It might be a little fancy for such mundane tasks but heck, it’s fun to be a little extra once in awhile!
