I won’t get into politics but July is a month that typically celebrates America. This year, it’s especially important for Americans to come together (while staying socially distanced, of course) and work to get the country back on track. Times might be hard but there are still plenty of opportunities to have fun! One of the ways my family stays entertained every month is with a Gramma in a Box subscription of candy crafts and cookie decorating.
Each month comes with a different theme. All supplies are included for just $20. In my opinion, this is an exceptional value. If you had to purchase the supplies separately for each project you’d spend a LOT more than that, not to mention the time it would take to organize and purchase it all from different places! This month’s theme, fittingly was “Patriotic”.
The first project was “sparklers”. You make these by dipping pretzel sticks into melting chocolate then adding sprinkles. The sprinkles this month are really cute red, white and blue with tiny little stars mixed in! Each project comes with step by step directions plus tips from “Gramma”. Make sure to save half of the melting chocolate from the first project because you’ll need it for the second project.
The second project was Star Spangled Crispy Bites. This used the leftover melting chocolate, mix with cereal, peanuts, m&ms and any left over sprinkles if you’d like. We love that the boxes come with everything you need, including the candy papers to hold the treats! The boxes are packaged really well with ingredients organized into individual containers. Unfortunately this month some of them spilled inside of the box. That’s why these treats look a little smaller than normal.
The third project is always cookie decorating and one of my family’s favorites. They look forward to seeing what three colors of frosting will be included and what shape cookies they’ll get to decorate. You always get several different shapes of cookies, 3 colors of frosting and a variety of sprinkles, candies and/or colored sugar to decorate them! Gramma Terry posts little videos to her social media accounts and demonstrates different decorating techniques that my kids love to try. This project allows them to experiment and use their creativity. There is never a shortage of frosting or decorations — more than enough for the project. In fact my kids often save some of them to use later!
I love how Gramma in a Box has become a bonding project for my girls. They work so well together and have so much fun making treats every month. They love sharing their treats with the rest of the family so we ALL look forward to the Gramma in a Box delivery!
More about Gramma in a Box
“Gramma Terry” started making Gramma in a Box for her grandkids who live in a different state. She’d send them the kit and they’d do the projects “together” via Skype. Now she spreads the joy to anyone that wants a subscription! She comes up with themed cookies and candy crafts each month then puts together detailed instructions and bonus tips. The contents of each box are always very organized. The directions are easy to follow so it’s clear which ingredients go with which project. You can see all of the Gramma in a Box projects we’ve done here.
This is the perfect gift to send to a child home for the summer, especially since other things are so limited due to the pandemic. It’s a fun project that promotes quality family time and is something to look forward to each month. You can subscribe with an auto debit program for only $20 per month and the first box is only $10. If you decide on a 3 month prepaid subscription, use code 10off (lowercase off) to save an additional $10 off the three month package (normally $55) and you get it for only $15 per box! You can also purchase an individual box if you just want to give it a try! Order by the 3rd of the month to receive that month’s box. You can find out more at www.grammainabox.com. You can also visit Gramma in a box on Facebook and Instagram for videos of each project and more!
