Ahh…summer! It’s coming to and end so quickly! It’s been a very busy one for our family with a lot of changes! We sold our house and bought another one in Arizona so even though summer will officially be over as far as school goes, we won’t have any shortage of sunshine!
We got our last delivery of Gramma in a Box at our current address and barely had time to squeeze it in. All of our belongings were pretty much packed up and had already been shipped off when the girls finally got a chance to do the cookie and candy crafts projects. Luckily, just about everything you need is right inside the box!
Each month comes with a different theme. All supplies are included for just $20. In my opinion, this is an exceptional value. If you had to purchase the supplies separately for each project you’d spend a LOT more than that, not to mention the time it would take to organize and purchase it all from different places! Everything you need is neatly packaged and delivered right to your door! This month’s theme was “Under the Sea”
The first project was “Baby Shark Pops”. My girls love any project that involved a “pop”. You make these ones by putting a large marshmallow on the pop stick, dipping into melting chocolate and then dipping the bottom into graham cracker crumbs. Add a goldfish cracker or two to the side before the melting chocolate dries. These are adorable, fun and easy to make! “Gramma” gives clearly written instructions with photos for every project and even offers extra tips! Make sure to save half of the melting chocolate from the first project because you’ll need it for the second project.
The second project was Clams with Pearls. This project uses the leftover melting chocolate spread on two vanilla wafers. A candy pearl is placed between them. Add some candy eyes to the top to bring them to life! There was also some white pearl sprinkles that you could add but my girls opted not to use them for this project.
The third project is always cookie decorating and one of my family’s favorites. They look forward to seeing what three colors of frosting will be included and what shape cookies they’ll get to decorate. You always get several different shapes of cookies, 3 colors of frosting and a variety of sprinkles, candies and/or colored sugar to decorate them! Gramma Terry posts little videos to her social media accounts and demonstrates different decorating techniques that my kids love to try. This project allows them to experiment and use their creativity. There is never a shortage of frosting or decorations — more than enough for the project. In fact my kids often save some of them to use later!
This month they got yellow, pink and blue frosting with fish, star and shell shaped cookies, purple, blue and orange colored sugar sprinkles and the white pearl sprinkles.
As always, my girls had a great time doing the Gramma in a Box projects and it was fun to have something to do since all of their stuff was already packed up! My girls love working together on the projects and then sharing the treats with the rest of the family. It’s so cool to have a delivery that the whole family looks forward to every month!
More about Gramma in a Box
“Gramma Terry” started making Gramma in a Box for her grandkids who live in a different state. She’d send them the kit and they’d do the projects “together” via Skype. Now she spreads the joy to anyone that wants a subscription! She comes up with themed cookies and candy crafts each month then puts together detailed instructions and bonus tips. The contents of each box are always very organized. The directions are easy to follow so it’s clear which ingredients go with which project. You can see all of the Gramma in a Box projects we’ve done here.
This is the perfect gift to send to a child home for the summer, especially since other things are so limited due to the pandemic. It’s a fun project that promotes quality family time and is something to look forward to each month. You can subscribe with an auto debit program for only $22 per month. Prepay for a 3, 6 or 12 month subscription and save 10%! Order by the 3rd of the month to receive that month’s box. You can find out more at www.grammainabox.com. You can also visit Gramma in a box on Facebook and Instagram for videos of each project and more!
