It’s the first full week of summer for my kids and I’m already hearing way more “I’m bored!” comments than I care to! Luckily, I have all sorts of ideas to cure boredom thanks to a new book I recently received: Crafty Family Ideas: Projects to Make, Things to Bake, and Lots of Homemade(ish) Fun by Kristin Gambaccini.
This book was just the thing I needed. It has such a wide variety of easy projects to keep my kids happy and entertained. With over 55 fresh ideas that are not only easy but affordable too, this book is ready to take our summer fun to the next level.
The pandemic has probably put a drain on a lot of mom’s creativity. Many of us are already exhausted from trying to keep the kids engaged. Crafty Family Ideas can help! I love that I can just pick up the book, flip through it, and quickly find an easy project for my girls to do, many of which I already have the supplies for on hand. Sometimes we just need a little inspiration. The bright photographs in this book do the trick. Everything looks fun!

My kids will flip when I present them with this project! Make a bubblegum machine using a plastic snow globe, a black plastic spoon and a red plastic cup! It looks adorable and the kids will have a ball making it and displaying it in their bedrooms.
Want a little help in the kitchen? Teach the kids to make their own meals and snacks! There are plenty of kid friendly recipes in this book including Caramel Snack Corn, Tater Tot Casserole and Chocolate Chip Oatmeal Banana Bars. My girls love to cook and are at the age that the can do it with minimal supervision. They are going to love trying out the recipes in this book and I can’t wait to sample them myself!
My youngest daughter will be drawn to the pet projects. There’s a pet silhouette art project and even a recipe for dog treats! My older daughter will be drawn to the baking projects and both of them will love any craft project related to decor.
