As I am writing this post, all I can think about are the Vlasic commercials with a little girl crunching a pickle very loudly at a restaurant and everyone stares at her. The stork comes on and says, “Now that’s a pickle.” Here at Mommies with Cents, when we hear storks, we think of babies, but not this time. We are thinking PICKLES!
I am personally not a pickle lover, but my husband is. He chose to try Vlasic Bread and Butter Spears and Kosher Dill pickles. He obviously raved about them and loves that they are so crunchy. Vlasic Pickles has been around for over 68 years! I think they are the best for barbeques. Hamburgers come to mind!
Here is just one of the main recipes great for Vlasic pickles!
BUFFALO MELTS
Serves 4
INGREDIENTS:
2 pounds, ground BUFFALO MEAT (*If you can’t find real buffalo meat, you can substitute with ground turkey or beef.)
2 EGG YOLKS
1 small ONION, chopped
SALT and PEPPER to taste
1/2 cup, TOMATO SAUCE
4 slices SOURDOUGH BREAD
1 jar, VLASIC® STACKERS PICKLES
4 slices CHEESE
DIRECTIONS:
1. In a large mixing bowl, mix the ground meat, egg yolks, onion, salt and pepper well. Use your hands!
2. Stuff mixture into a bread pan or deep baking pan.
3. Add tomato sauce on top, spreading evenly.
4. Bake at 400 degrees for 45 minutes or until cooked through. When done, let cool and cut into one inch slices.
5. Build Melt: Lay the bread slices flat, add sliced meatloaf, then pickle slices and top with cheese.
6. Bake in toaster oven or oven until cheese is melted.
