Since I was a little girl, card games have been a part of my life. Before I could hold cards properly in my little hands, I’d go into another room to lay them out on the floor and rearrange them before going back to the game. Uno was one of my early favorites.
Hasbro has just come out with a couple of new card games:
- Monopoly Deal- Ages 8 & up. Collect 3 complete property sets while watching out for debt collectors, forced deals and deal breakers which could change your luck at any time.
- Scrabble Slam- In a twist on the classic Scrabble board game, players race against each other to get rid of all of their cards by changing one letter of an existing four letter word to create a new word. “Race” could be come “rate” and “rate” could become “fate” and so on.
- Yahtzee Hands Down- 2-6 players ages 8 & up. Collect dice cards to make classic Yahtzee combinations (4 of a kind, small straight, large straight, full house, etc.) Trade cards you don’t need for new ones to “roll” the dice. Play your own hand against another players to win combo card points.
- Sorry Revenge-Get the pile of cards to 21 without going over to get one of your pawn cards “home” Play action cards to change the course of play to hinder another players chance to reach home. Play a Sorry! card to steal another players win.
- Mille Bornes (a return of the classic)
Sorry has always been one of my favorite board games so I was happy to see a card game version of it. A few weeks ago, I had my 7 and 8 year old nephews spend a couple of days with me and I taught them to play Sorry Revenge. After the first time we played, they played together on their own a couple of times and had a lot of fun….so much fun that every day after I put my own kids down for a nap, they asked to play again. It was a lot of fun spending time with them and I was happy to have a fun, age appropriate game to keep them occupied.
Card games are especially great because they can be played almost anywhere. You can take them with you in the car on road trips or to be played on play dates, travel destinations and more. All of these new card games are perfect for family game night. Speaking of, Wednesday, September 29th is National Family Game Night. We encourage you not only to celebrate this night by turning off the television and enjoying some quality family game time together, but to incorporate a regular game night into your busy schedule. It’s a great way to have fun and bond with the entire family.
The regular retail price of the new Hasbro card games is $6.99. Get $1 off any one Hasbro Card Game with this printable coupon. and watch for a sale to pair it with! It’s never to early to think ahead- stocking stuffers, anyone? 😉
