I’ve got three kids. Two of them have red hair which seems synonymous with sensitive skin. My third child is 5 months old with fresh, new baby skin. Needless to say, I’m cautious about the products I use on them. As much as I love scented bath products, I avoid them for my kids. My oldest daughter has dry skin but no real issues yet. My son has had to see a specialist several times for some severe skin problems which baffled even the dermatologist. Luckily, with a few changes and an “as needed” prescription his skin troubles have subsided. I’ve been using Exederm baby products with success. They are very gentle and made especially for those with sensitive skin or skin problems.
Does your baby have ultra sensitive skin? Exederm is a line of baby products formulated to be extra gentle for skin problems such as eczema. In fact all five Exederm baby products received the Seal of Acceptance from the National Eczema Association and scored a maximum of 5/5 from the review panel. Exederm products are fragrance and dye free. They do not contain parabens, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, lanolin, phthalates, propylene glycol or cocamidoproply betaine. The Exederm line of baby products includes Cleansing Baby Bath, Intensive Baby Moisturizer, Hydrating Baby Lotion, Soothing Baby Oil and Non-Irritating Baby Shampoo. Prices range from $10-$15. White the prices are a little high, that’s to be expected of specialty products and worth it to avoid uncomfortable skin irritations.
My favorites from the line up are the shampoo and baby bath. I love that the baby bath is in a pump bottle. I wish all of the products were actually! It makes it a lot easier to use them in my opinion. My kiddos may not smell extra pretty with fragranced products but at least I am helping to prevent or soothe their skin problems by using Exederm.
The makers of Exederm offer these tips for reducing the number of uncomfortable eczema flare-ups:
- Moisturize frequently, especially after washing
- Avoid man-made triggers such as products containing harsh soaps, detergents and lanolin
- Avoid environmental allergy triggers, such as pollen, mold, dust mites and animal dander
- Wash bed sheets weekly at a temperature of 60°C and vacuum carpets regularly if they cannot be replaced with hardwood floors to avoid dust mites and animal dander
- Check for pet allergies as contact animal hairs or feathers may aggravate symptoms
