Back to School with #Kohls101
In the midst of fully enjoying our summer and trying to squeeze every last drop of fun out of it, I’m also starting to think about Back to School. I hate waiting until the last minute and feeling unprepared so I like to start early. Kohl’s has been offering some awesome sales and deals lately so with a budget of $300, I started shopping and marking some items off my list so I won’t be so overwhelmed at the end of the summer and scrambling to get my 3 kiddos everything they need for the new school year.
I started with the basics. I wanted to make sure I had some essentials and figured I could fill in the gaps even after school started. For my 7 year old son, long sleeve thermal tees have always been a wardrobe staple. He can wear them under his favorite tees when the weather cools off, extending their life. I picked up a few grey ones (they go with everything!) and a red one because red is one of his school and football team’s colors. They also have graphic tees which are fun on their own and can still be worn under other shirts making them a little more versatile.
Next I picked up some shoes. Kids always need new shoes to start off the school year. It seems like their feet grow INCHES over the summer! The hubs is really picky when it comes to our children’s shoes but I knew he’d approve of these Nikes because he has the exact same pair himself! I had a 15% off coupon, plus it was Kohl’s Cash earning time so these ended up being a pretty good deal. I usually plan on spending $5o on shoes and I got these for less than that!
I also picked up a pair Nikes for my 5 year old and since they have pink on them, they’ll keep both her and Daddy happy! Mommy is happy too because she just marked another item off the shopping list and they were even cheaper than the other pair!
My oldest daughter is starting Kindergarten this year so I knew she’d want a new backpack. My youngest daughter is starting preschool and was excited to get her own backpack for school too! They both love Hello Kitty and Kohl’s has a great selection of backpacks on Sale including several different Hello Kitty styles! Since my son was very specific on wanting a Seahawks backpack, I’ll have to find his somewhere else but I was happy to mark these off the girl’s list.
For the girls, leggings are the one major stock-up item. They wear them under dresses which works the same way as the thermal shirts do, by extending the life of their summer dresses to wear into fall. They can add a cardigan or a long sleeve tee on top with the leggings under to stay warm on chilly days. Four pairs for each of my girls will be plenty to start the school year off! I picked them up at $7.99/pair for girls and $6.99/pair for toddlers and used a 15% off coupon. I love the stock-up prices at Kohl’s on all my favorite basics!

Another thing I love that’s new this year at Kohl’s is that shoppers can now pick up school supplies for one stop shopping! Kohl’s has partnered with Office Max to offer a nice selection of must-haves for school like notebooks, pens, pencils, erasers, glue, etc. While prices do seem to be lower elsewhere on some items with the crazy deals some stores offer this time a year, time is money and you’ll be all set to go with clothing and supplies all in one trip at Kohl’s!
Our school had some brand specific items on the school supply list this year, Crayola being one of them. Kohl’s has an awesome stock of Crayola brand items. For my two school aged kids we needed 5 boxes of crayons, 3 boxes of markers (one thick) and one box of colored pencils. That’s a large chunk of the school supply list checked off!
Kohl’s is one of my favorite places to shop for great basics as well as the name brands my kids love. Now that I’ve stocked up on all of the basics for the new school year, I’ll be watching sales and picking up Nike gear, Mudd tops, and Carter & OshKosh dresses for my kiddos so they’ll be looking stylish as they start off the new school year.
