Beauty and the Beast the Musical — My Review
It’s a late night for me, but totally worth it! I just got back from Seattle where my daughter and I saw Beauty and the Beast at the Paramount theater. The wealth of talent that goes into a production like this just amazes me. Everything from the set to the lighting and orchestra music was fantastic. Not to mention the extremely talented cast. With musicals, the cast has to have the trifecta of talent: acting, dancing and singing. Believe me when I say that the entire cast of Beauty and the Beast had it all!
The Paramount itself is stunningly beautiful. I could stare at the ceiling for hours. Pictures don’t do it justice! But the productions that go on inside it’s walls are equally beautiful. I’ve seen several shows now and have had so much fun at all of them. I think this one was my favorite so far though.
The storyline stayed true to the movie and the music was familiar too which I think makes it more fun for kids. I really enjoyed all of the characters — I can’t decide which was my favorite between Gaston and Lumierre. Both were very comical. There were several dramatic scenes, none of them frightening enough to scare my five year old though. If you are able to sit within the first 10 rows or so, you’ll get a couple of fun surprises, the first one just before intermission. We were in the 11th row and just barely made it.
Do you remember Chip, the adorable little teacup from the Disney movie? A child plays his part in the show and I am still baffled how they pulled it off. The costume only consists of his head on a tea cart. You can see through the underneath of the cart so I have no idea where they put this kid’s body! Pretty impressive special effects if you ask me!
McKinley and I had a fantastic time. This was an awesome experience and a great way to spend some one on one time with my girl. If you can squeeze this show into your schedule, you will NOT be disappointed! It was so good!
