When I was a kid eating cookie dough didn’t have any risks associated with it, at least not to my knowledge. I’d never heard the word salmonella and I doubt my parents had either. Whenever my mom made cookies we’d fight over who got to scrape the bowl and lick the spoon. I know the true joy of eating fresh cookie dough and it is amazing. These days however, I am more educated. My kids think I’m strict but I don’t let them eat raw cookie dough.
When my oldest was born I stopped using chemicals to clean the house. I researched the safest products to use. I made sure to use BPA free bottles and only bought the safest toys. I’ll admit, I did get a little more relaxed with each child but I’m still pretty cautious. I want my babies protected and safe! Therefore, I don’t let them eat raw cookie dough. They hated me for it until I discovered Big Dipper Cookie Dough Company which makes delicious edible cookie dough.
Big Dipper cookie dough has no eggs, pasteurized flower, chemicals, preservatives or anything artificial. What it does contain is real Idaho butter, American wheat flour, Madagascar vanilla, West African chocolate chips, Wisconsin cherries and sea salt. All of these are ingredients I can recognize and pronounce and feel safe feeding my children.
The Big Dipper Cookie Dough Company was founded in 2015 by Austin Groessner, a hungry athlete with a sweet tooth. During training for his first marathon he craved something cold and sweet so he whipped up a batch of edible cookie dough in his mom’s kitchen. He started sharing this delicious treat with his friends and family and word spread. Before long he was working full time just to keep up with the orders! In just 4 years Big Dipper broke seven figures and in the five years since the first batch, Big Dipper Dough has grown from one store to 3000 stores in 40 states. They currently offer three flavors: Rocket Chip (chocolate chip), Galactic Fusion (cookies ‘n cream) and Super Cluster (cherry chocolate chunk).
My kids went bananas for this stuff. My oldest daughter couldn’t open the fridge (or even walk by the kitchen) without sneaking a spoonful from the carton. The chocolate chip and cookies ‘n cream flavors came in at a tie for best flavor according to my kids. They didn’t care for the cherry chocolate chunk flavor very much but that means more for me! I think it’s pretty tasty!
