Today’s questions is What is PageRank?
This is Wikipedia’s definition:
“PageRank reflects our view of the importance of web pages by considering more than 500 million variables and 2 billion terms. Pages that we believe are important pages receive a higher PageRank and are more likely to appear at the top of the search results.
PageRank also considers the importance of each page that casts a vote, as votes from some pages are considered to have greater value, thus giving the linked page greater value. We have always taken a pragmatic approach to help improve search quality and create useful products, and our technology uses the collective intelligence of the web to determine a page’s importance.”
When someone asks you what your PageRank is, they are most likely referring to your Google PR score as defined above. The algorithm used to determine your PageRank takes many factors into account including how long your blog has been established, how many readers visit your page, the length of time they spend on the page and more. The score is bases on a scale of 0-10. The higher the number, the better. To find out your PageRank, visit this site. Knowing what determines your PageRank can help you increase your score and where to focus your energy to improve it.
When Mindy and I started out we had no idea what we were doing. We learned as we went and even though it’s been a few years, there is still so much to learn! We are learning new things all of the time and it’s so much fun! We’ve had help along the way and we want to pay it forward.
