My husband and I like music but we aren’t very musical. I didn’t think any of our kids would be either but our middle daughter at age 6 is showing a lot of interest in music and has a beautiful singing voice much to our surprise. I’ve asked around and age 7 seems to be the consensus for the starting age for piano lessons. I know many teachers don’t even want to give lessons unless the student has a piano at home to practice on.
We don’t really have the space for a piano and we aren’t exactly sure if piano will hold McKinley’s interest so we don’t want to invest in a full size piano. We did some research and found the Casio Compact Grand Piano with excellent reviews (4.5 out of 5 stars on Amazon). It’s loaded with features and makes a great family-friendly piano. Here are a few of my favorite things about this piano:
- It has 88 touch-sensitive key (based on a grand piano) that offer an authentic playing experience with 3 sensors rather than two for precision.
- It’s compact size and portability is ideal for our family. It can be used with or without the included stand which features built in 40 watt speakers!
- The Touch screen interface was designed for easy navigation with color graphics and access to every feature.
- There are 550 instrument tones and effects including guitars, basses, strings, brass, organs and more that are fun to experiment with!
- It has a headphone jack, thank you Lord! I am sure one day I’ll adore listening to my daughter play the piano but using headphones for practice sessions might just save my sanity until then!
This is a great keyboard with quality sound and perfect for family’s like ours. You can find the Casio Compact Grand Piano on Amazon for around $800.
