Growing up, my grandparents were a large part of my life. When times were tough for my parents, my grandparents saw to it that I had a new outfit for the first day of school, shoes that fit and plenty of presents on Christmas morning. Aside from material items, my grandparents made me feel loved and I enjoyed spending time with them. They taught me many valuable lessons over the years and I appreciate everything they did for me.
Grandparents Day is September 13th. My children and I customized a card for my grandparents to let them know that we are thinking of them on this special day. My children are very young and my grandparents are getting up there in years. I take lots of pictures of the time they spend together so that the kids will be able to “remember” them when they get older.
My parents, as well as my in-laws, are very active and influential in the lives of my children. This is something that is very important to me because of my relationship with my own grandparents. We very much appreciate the presence in their lives and recognize the importance of Grandparent’s Day. SInce it isn’t a well known holiday, we wanted to remind you to take the time to show your grandparents and/or your children’s grandparents that you love them on Grandparent’s Day!
