Dolcedì is the first sweetener made from 100% organic apples and it naturally has a low glycemic index making it a great alternative to sugar with 25% fewer calories. This all natural liquid sweetener has a texture like honey and tastes very similar in my opinion. Rigoni di Asiago Dolcedì is made from the concentrated and filtered sugar extracted from organic apples. It is certified USDA organic, non-GMO, gluten-free, vegan, and STAR-KOSHER.
Dolcedì can be used any way you would use traditional table sugar or honey and in the same proportions; one teaspoon of sugar equals one teaspoon of Dolcedì. Its neutral flavor enhances the taste of food and drinks without altering them. Dolcedì is also perfectly soluble in both cold and hot drinks and can be enjoyed with pancakes, on yogurt, in fruit salad, and in baking.
I’ve used Dolcedì in recipes such as Energy Balls but I really love it as a sweetener in beverages. Earlier this year I discovered La Croix, a zero calorie sparkling water. It has a great flavor but really needed a bit of sugar in my opinion. I didn’t want to dumb a bunch of sugar into a drink that I had bought for it’s sugarless nature in the first place so Dolcedì was a perfect alternative. I put a little bit of La Croix in the bottom of a glass and squirt in about a teaspoon of Dolcedì and mix it together to dissolve. Then I add the rest of the La Croix. It tastes great and is my go-to beverage when it’s hot out. To be honest, I also like it with a bit of vanilla vodka on the weekends!
Another thing I love but have never actually made myself is Sweet Tea. I know it’s loaded with sugar though so I’m going to try making my own with Dolcedì. It is National Iced Tea Month after all!
