Did you know you can get a gel manicure at home just like you’d get in a salon? I’m all about doing things myself as long as it saves money. And this definitely does! For just $99 you can get everything you need for the perfect gel manicure from Couture Gel Nail Polish. The starter kit includes:
- Your Choice of 1 Couture Gel Nail Polish Color
- Base Coat
- Super Shine Top Coat
- LED Espree Salon Lamp with 30 second dry time
- Instructional DVD and brochure
- Exclusive Cleanse and Remove Products
- And a bonus salon quality manicure tool kit
- Zippered Cosmetic Case
If you can paint your own nails, you can do this. It’s really simple and you’ll get a manicure that lasts! Do 2-3 manicures and the set practically pays for itself based on salon prices for the same service. Couture Gel Nail Polish is American’s #1 selling gel nail polish and they have over 100 colors to choose from that are free from harsh chemicals and made in the USA. The also no not test on animals. Celebrity stylist for J-Lo, Oprah, Kristen Bell and more are even choosing Couture Gel Nail Polish for their clients!
I gave the set a whirl and was more than pleased with the results. Not only does the set come with great written instructions it also comes with a DVD for visual instruction if you prefer that. Since I was already familiar with the process I just looked over the written directions to make sure I didn’t miss anything.
Take Gel Couture’s advice and do your thumbs first! This way the polish won’t pool at the cuticle. One of the main factors to a good gel manicure is to keep the polish OFF the cuticles!
Start by buffing your nails to remove the natural oils. Then paint on a thin base coat. Cure under the light for 30 seconds. Next, paint on your color. Again, thin coats are important! Avoid getting polish on the cuticles (remove it before curing). Paint the edge of the tips of your nails to seal them. Cure for 30 seconds. I did a second coat because the first didn’t cover as well as I would have liked. Finished with a top coat and cure 30 seconds. There will be a tacky layer that needs to be removed from the surface of your nails. You can use rubbing alcohol or the “cleanse” product that comes with the kit. Your nail polish will be completely dry and you can go about your day without worry about denting or smudging your polish! I love that!
I’ve done gel manicures before but never one where the curing time for each layer is just 30 seconds. I also love how this kit comes with everything — I especially love the pretty zippered bag to store everything in! The kit is a really good value!
